PAPANUI DOMAIN
FIRST MEETING OF BOARD The newly-elected Papanui Domain Board held its first meeting in the Waimairi County Council Chambers, Mr W. J. Walter presiding. An application from the Waimairi ,T?ugby League Football Club for the use of the domain for a Sunday football match was refused. It was agreed that in future no games of any description should be allowed on the domain on Sundays. The charges for picnics on the domain ■p/ere fixed at 10s for local parties and 20s for others. The board decided to inspect the domain on Saturday, and to ask officials of the Papanui Amateur Cycling Club to be present to discuss the upkeep of the cycle track. DOMAIN AT HORNBY BOARD OF CONTROL ELECTED Mr James Leslie, chairman of the Paparua County Council, presided over a meeting of residents of Hornby interested in the formation of a domain board to take over control of Walker's recreation ground, situated between Walker's and Leslie's roads. Mr G. Maginness, county clerk, was also present, and outlined the duties of a Domains Board. On a motion moved by Mr Arthur Whale and seconded by Mr Alex. Still, it was decided that a domain board should be formed. The following were elected to the board: Msesrs J. Burgess, C. Whitelaw, William Stuart, John Stuart, and A. E. Grubb. It is the intention of the new board to raise funds in conjunction with the Hornby Old Timers' Sports Club, to make a children's playground and build other conveniences.
