RADIO INTERFERENCE. 'Jo anyone with a knowledge of the Morse code,, the air of Papanui is full of news, but to those who -wish to hear the Y.A. musk, the pounding ol' Morse is nearly always spoiling otherwise good programmes. The interference is very noticable on Sunday, on which day there is ample time between programmes for the transmitter of Morse. Bishop's Road. The descendants of the latj James, William, and Robert Bishop, are lodging a protest against the proposed alteration to the name of Bishop's road. They state that the road has been so named for at least 70 years, and should retain it. There arc several othor roads in the district with the same names as those in other parts of the City. It is understood that a protest is to be made against the alteration of' Green's road. Methodist Church. Mr 11. W. Hawke, M.P., drove a party from the Methodist Church on Sunday afternoon to the McLean's Island relief camp, where the Rev. A. Hopper conducted a service. Solos were sung by Messrs I. Hopper and B. Lowe. On Tuesday evening at the schoolroom the Rev. F. A. Crawshaw, New Zealand secrotary for the mission to lepers, gave a very interesting illustrated address on missionary work. The speaker was thanked by the Rev. Mr Hopper and the Rev. Mr Bandy. Amateur Cycling Club. A meeting of the committee of the Papanui Amateur Cycling Club was held on Monday evening, . Mr C. Hill .presiding. Others present were Messrs .R. Hill, F. Powell, A. Lancaster, J. Sturrock, T. 11. Grose, W. Marks, A. C. Hands, and A. E. Purse. A trophy was received from Mr J. 11. Parsons, as a prize for the round-the-Gorges raee. Two new members were elected: Messrs Hill and T. A. Grose submitted a prize list for the round-the-Gorges race to the value of £IOO, which was ap» proved. It was decided to call a meeting of amateur cyclists, together with members of the Federation qnd the Cycling Centre, to discuss matters in connexion with the control of thd sport. \ Social Evening. A very enjoyable social evening was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs G. Allington, Styx Mill road. Amusing competitions were won by Messrs Barnes, Lead better, and C. Chaney. Community singing concluded the evening, with Mr Barnes at* the piano. Those present were Mr and Mrs G. Allington. Mr and Mrs Barnes, Mesdames Chaneyj Mottram, Orbell, Lavender, Munro, Price and Donaldson (2), Misses Orbell and Allington (2), Messrs. Gates, Simxnonds. Leadbetter, C. Chaney, and Mottrain.
