The headmaster's report showed that tho roll was 380, with an average attendance of 329. * Life-Saving Club. The regular meeting of the Sumner Life Saving and Surf-Bathing Club was iieid last night, Mr A. Buttle presiding. Opening day was fixed for December 17th. Messrs J. Browne (captain) and G. Billson (instructor) and Glackin to make the necessary arrangements with regard to demonstrations, 'and Mr Buttle to arraitge for speakers. It was decided to' ask the Borough Council to appoint beach inspectors for ,~the bathing season. The captain reported that th e E-ay Blank Surf Competition would be contested at Sumner on January 21 Presbyterian Church. The Rev. AA\ McAra presided over the monthly meeting of th e committee, a full attendance being recorded. The° thnirman reported that the Rev. E. M. Ryburu would priach at the anniverlary- services on December 18th, and tiat a specially augmented choir would . assist.
