OBITUARY.
mi: ISAAC PARISH. The late Mr Isaac Parish, who died -it his heme, Bunvood, oil Saturday last, arrived in New Zealand with his parents on December 27th, 1860, at tho age of five years He lirst worked for ..is father on the construction of the /rrry road, and at the age of 20 years iie joined in the gold-rush to Hokitika, taking 14 days to roach his destination jy schooner. Upon his return to UJifistchuroh ho was employed in carting stone for the Bank of New Zealand and other early buildings. In 1871 ho commenced dairy farming at Ferry load, where he remained until ho went to Marshland some years later, and >ubsequently he purchased farm pro-iier-iies in. Eaflgiora and other districts. J'he 1 ale Mr Parish was well-known a3 a judge of stock, and for several years He acted as judge at the Rangiora and Christchuroh shows. For a number of years lie occupied a seat on the old Avon Road Board. The late Mr parish was twice his irst wife, who predeceased him m 1913, Being a daughter of Mr tV. Piper. His second wife, who is : a laughter of 'Mr Hay, of Christchurch, -urvivcs him, and he also leaves a famly .of six sons and two daughters, besides 27 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. MR. E. WTHAREIS. The dea.tlh occurred yesterday morning of Mr Edward William Harris, of Okain's Bay, at the age of 86 jears. The lata Mr Harris arrived at Lyttelton from Norwich, England, with his parents in 1851, being a passenger by the ship Steadfast. As a youth, he « ret f ' n Arracks at Lyttelton, and for four years he was, employed as a baiters apprentice. Later he was engaged iii pit-eawing at Okain's Bay, and took up bush, land on Ibis own account. Mr Harris was one of the pioneers of dairying on Bank's Peflinsulo, and up till the time of his death' he took an active interest in the industry, being ohairaan of the Okain's Bay cheese factory for eighteen years, and a director of the company for 27. years His various activities mado him well known throughout North Canterbury. For over thirty years he was chairman of the Okain's Bav School an early irieinbei of the City of Norwich Lodge. .Lyttelton, m which he' liad held all offices; He -was also an active member of tiJio £& UrC & ®?F lain(l - Mr Harris's first wire died forty-one years ago. Thev ,®i, pSht children, seven of whom are •still ■ living-—Frederick William Harris,! r rs Mason, Okain'a Bay; Mrs L. Gnjham, Okain's Bav i Mrs R. Hartley, Okain'a Bay; and MVs h. Bacon, Gore His second wife, who was the widow of. the, late Mr Ambrose Warns, sumyes him. J2® Auokland this °, f Mr J °sepli Foster Buddie, in his 69th year. Deceased was the fourtft son of the late Rev. Thomas Buddie. Wh iQ?r" a r gokjanga as far as 1840. Mr J. F. Buddie was born in Auckland, and was highly esteemed by a large circle of friends.
