DEATH OF MR AARON AVERS.
We regret to announce the death of Mr Aaron Ayers, which occurred at an early hour this morning, afc his residence at Avonside. He had been in failing health for some time, his heart being seriously affected. Mr Ayers had been a resident of Christchurch for some forty years, and during a good deal of tliat time he took an active part in municipal affairs, being a member of the City Council for a number of years, and serving two terms as Mayor., In early life he followed a variety of occupations, but for the last twenty years he had been an auctioneer. For some time he was a member of the firm of Avers, Beauchamp and Co., and latterly he conducted! a business on his own account. He was a great lover of flowers and an admirable amateur gardener. Since his retirement from the Council Mr Ayers lived a comparatively retired _>fe. He" w. st.cerely esteemed by a large circle of friar's, by whom great sympathy will be felt for his widow and family.
