Frederick Henry William Gough-Calthorpe, fifth baron, and a barouet, was born July 24th, 1826. and succeeded to the title in 1863. ~ He was educated at Eton and at Trinity College, Cambridge, and sat as M.P. for East Worcestershire in the Liberal interest 1859-68. He" was a DeputyLieutenant and a J.P. for counties Warwick and Stafford, . General Sir Lothian Nicholson, X.C.8., was a son of the late Mr &. T. Nicholson, of WaverLsy Abbey, Surrey, aud was born in 1827. He entered the Royal Engineers in 1846, became captain aud major in 1855, aad rapidly ootaining his steps became General iv 1688. ana Colonel-Com-mandant in 1890- He served with distinction in the Crimean Campaign and the Indian Mutiny. He' was formerly Inspector General of Fortifications, but since 1891 has been Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Gibraltar. He married in 1864 the Hon. Mary _i_miUy, daughter of the first Baron Homily.
