ENGLISH TEAM FOR NEW ZEALAND.
(By Telegraph.—Ovfn Corresponaent.) CHKR3TCHUIICTI, this day. decision of the M.CC. to send an amateur team to visit New Zealand, and play fifteen matches, is the outcome of an invitation from the New Zealand Cricket Council to the M.CC. Club to send a team of amateurs out to New Zealand in the season 1906-7, virtually for the Exhibition season. The secretary of the Council recently received a reply from Mr Lacey, secretary of the M.C.C., saying that nothing could be settled until the English cricket season opened, but promising to do the best he could. The New Zealand Council wished the English Test team that was to visit Australia this season to extend its tour to New Zealand, but owing to the dispute in Australia "with regard .to the torn- not being settled the M.CC. has decided not to send a team to Australia, but to accept New Zealand's invitation. The New Zealand authorities have no idea of the personnel of the team, but expect a letter from Mr Lacey by the next mail, when the Council will meet to arrange matters in connection with the visit.
