ARRIVAL IN NEW ZEALAND.

Wellington, this day. Mr Rcjdyard Kipling, the well-known English author, arrived from London yesterday by the R.M.s. Doric. He is booked for Auckland, and will visit Samoa. Mr Kipling was born in 1564, and is the son of Mr John Lockwood Kipling, C.1.E., head of the Lahore School of Arb. Hβ was

educated at the United Service College, Westward Ho, North Devon ; returned to India in 18S2 as sub-editor of bhe Lahore "Civil and MilitaryGazotte," andwas.«pecial correspondent for that paper, and for the "Pioneer" of Allahabad on the frontier at Rajputana and elsewhere. . Ho left India in ISB9, and travelled in China, Japan, and America, and thence to England. Mr Kipling is now on his way to Samoa, to visit Mr R. L. Stevenson, the novelist, and will probably arrive in Auckland tomorrow.
