Arrival of the Rooparell from London.

The New Zealand Shipping Company's fine new iron ship Rooparell, Captain Sandveg, arrived in harbour at 3 o'clock from London, after a passage of 95 days from port to port or 90 from land to land. She brings the largest number of immigrants ever brought to this port, her compliment of passengera numbering 367. Captain Sandveg reports leaving London 24th Feb. Encountered very rough weather in the channel, landed pilot at Dodman Point on the 27th February. Lost sight of the land on the 2nd March, and had fair weather to the Equator, which was crossed in long 26 W, Picked up the N.E. trades in 9 North on the 15th March, They proved very light. The S.E. trades were carried to 25deg. S. Passed the meridian jf'of the Cape 25th April, in 41 S. Kan down the eaßting in 45 deg: S. In the course of it experienced strong westerly winds, at times amounting to a gale, in one of which carried away flying jib-boom. Made the land (the North Cape) early yesterday morning, and had fine strong north-east breeze into port. The Eouparell brings her multitude of passengers in good health. Three deaths occurred during the early part of the passage. These were Charles Kewley, aged 29, of consumption and paralysis ; and two infants named Lawrence and Burrows, the first of consumption, and the other of bronchitis. Three births have taken place on the way out, in addition to one premature birth. There being no infectious disease on board Captain Burgess brought the ship up the harbour, and she anchored off the wharf about three o'clock. No one was suffered to go on board, however, till after the Health Officer had been on board. Dr Philson and the Immigration Commissioner, Mr Ellis, went off at halfpast three, and the immigrants are now being inspected.
