MEMORIAL PULPIT DEDICATED.

I TO LATE REV. H. STOCK EH. s I The little church of :S't. Mary's at '.Springs ton. was taxed' to its utmost 'capacity om Sunday afternoon on the occasion of the dedication of a pulpi't 5 to the momory of the Rev. Harry Stocke.r, who was the first minister of St. Mary's. He was also instrumental in having tihe chur.ch built; The dedication ceremony was per-' formed by the Rev. A. HI Acheson and the preacher was the 'Rev.. Duncan Rankin, an old friend of Mr Stociker. flVlrs P. V. Bailey presided ! at the organ'. The ceremony vva.-; of great interest as the late Mr Stocker was in the ministry in the parish when the Spiingston, Tai Tapu and Lincoi'n. churches were built. He gained his B.A. degree at the Trinity' College, Dublin, and arrived from the Old Country as a young' married man. He was appointed to the parochial district of Burnham immediately on arrival in 1873. The district at that time embraced Selwyn,, Courtenay, •Greendale, Springston and Burnham, with Burnham as the centre. In 1879 Archdeaccn lesigned and was appointed to Akaroa where he remained 1 several years. Later he went to InvercargiMas vicar and he wasi Archdeacon of Southland when, he retired to live in C'h'ristchurch. The meino:ial pulpit was built out of material from the old St, Paul's Church, Tai Tapu, which has been demolished and a m re up-tc-cia.tS' church 'built.
