The relatives of Private. Charlesr. Wonnacott, of Ash burton, have been advised that he embarked for England: ( on the hospital ship Plassey, on September 5. Battalion Signaller Trooper Arthur- : Capon, reported wounded, was born in. the Ashburtnn district. He is 24- , years of ago, and the son of Mr Arthur Capon. 'Winchmore. He attended the Lyndhurst School. After loaving school lie worked on his father's farm till -the war Hroke out. He volunteered among the first, and "left with the Third Keinforccmonts.' Trooper Victor Alfred O'Keefe (Canterbury Mounted), who died of

wounds oh August 23, was a-son of Mr A. H. O'Keefe, th& well-known artist, of Dunedin,; and a brother of Mrs W. Anderson, Ashburton. Deceased, who was 22 years of age, was born in Dun- "*■ -eclin, and was educated at the Outram Public School and Otago High Scnool. He joined the main body of the Otago Mounted Regiment, but later transferred to the Canterbury Mounted . Regiment, to be with his brother-in-law, Captain Hardy. Deceased was a member of the Dunjedin Football Club. Sergeant O'Keefe, who died of wounds on August 11, was a brother of Trooper O'Keefs. These soldiers were the only male members of the family. Trooper J. A. Killoh (Canterbury Mounted), who has been reported woanded, is a son of Mr J. G. Killoh, of Wills Street, Ashburton. Trooper . Killoh is' about 24 years 6f age, and went with the Main Body. He was born at Southland, and was educated at the Fairlie, Orari, and Fairton schools, and completed his education at the Ashburton High School. Prior to enlisting, he was working in the Lnuriston district. , Sergeant William John Steven (Canterbury Battalion, killed in action) was the eldest son of' Mr VJ. Wl. Steven, of Lauriston. Sergeant Steven was born in Christchurch ,; 25 : years ago, and was educated at the Normal School and, the Christchurch Boys' High School. Subsequently he was. in the employ of George G. Stead and Co., and then he was in Bowker's Land Agency. He was in business on his own account, as a land and estate agent in Hereford Street, Christchurch, when he joined the Main Expeditionary Force, as a lance-cor-poral. ' He. was, a prominent member of the Christchurch Boys' High School Old Boys' Football.Club's junior team, and he was a member of the club's Management Committee and of its Selection Committee. 'He ..was also .secretary of the Opawa: Swimming Club. ' Corporal David Manson (died of wounds) was the second son of Mr j David Manson, Craigiebtirn, North j Canterbury. He was 24 years of age, i and was educated at. the Springfield Public School and the Ashburton High School. Being one of the first to enlist in Ghristchurch, he left with the Main Force as a sapper in No. 1 Field Troop New Zealand Engineers, gain- { ing his promotion in Egypt. Prior to j enlisting he was in the employ of Andrews and Beayen, Christchurch. j He attended the night classes of the j School of Engineering, Canterbury College, for, three years, gaining firstclass passes in seven subjects. He took his third marine engineer's certificate in June, 1914. Always a keen Territorial, he was one of the team from No. 1 Company. New Zealand Engineers under Sergeant Jordan, ,who won 'the Observatory buildinc at the Naval and Military Competitions held in Christchurch in 1912, and was also one of the team of'three, Christchurch Engineers taking second place in the Demolition Competition at the Auckland Exhibition in 1914.
