TIIE "SEND-OFI"' ARRANGEMENTS CHRISTCHURCH, February 16. No parade was held at camp this moining, as all the luno which could be gained by an early start was fully utilibed in preparations for the departure. Tho last issues of clothing and equipments wero made, and all the men wero busily engaged beforo bieakfast in packing up their belongings. The horses ol tho Contingent wero embarked on tho Knight Templar today. They wero rak^n to Lyttelton by road, and their shoes having been removed they wero taken on board by specially prepared gangways. The work was oxpeaitiously done. Visitors aro flocking- ii.to town, which is crowded. The railway authorities 1 have made arrangements to copo with tho traffic on tho Lyttelton lino to-morrow, which is expected to bo enormous. Tho weather promises to be fine, and j thero is 110 doubt that tho proceedings ' in connection with tho send-off of the contingent will bo witnessed by the largest orowd ever assembled here. The contingent will leave' the camp about 10 o'clock and march to Hagley Park, whero they will be addressed by tho Governor, the Premier, the Mayor of Christchurch, and Bishop Grimes. Bishop Julius will offer prayer, and a choir and tho school children will sing tho National Anthem and patriotic sciigs. The contingent, escorted by local Volunteers, will tlftn march through tho principal streets to the railway station, wiiore they will embark for Lyttelton. At the port members of the contingent will bo entertained at luncheon by the Lytlelton Committee, and subsequently the n»en will be given an hour's leave to bid farewell to their friends. They will bo marched on to tho wharf shortly after 5 p.m., and short addresses will bo given by the Governor, tho Premier, and Mayor of Lyttelton. Tho troopship will leave the wharf about 5 p.m , and be escoited down the harbour by tho steamers in port. Tho Canterbury war iund now amounts to ,£12,584. Tho Westlanders have been included in tho Canterbury troop, which now numbers 121 officers, noncommissioned officers, and men.
