WOMANS FIGHT WITH AN EAGLE
An encounter oscured at San Benardino, Ca), between Mrs Goldibg, wife of a stage keeper, and two eagles on a mountain fifty miles north. She was sitting outside of the stage house by a cradle, in which lay her six months old baby when suddenly an eagle snooped down and seized tie infaut. The mother rushed to where a mule was tethered • nd pulling up the 3take pin, was soon following after the huge bird, which found flight difficult with its wet burden. The chase continued for a long distance, when the eagle alighted on its nest in tbe mountains. Mrs Golding climbing to where she saw the eagle alight found the bird and killed it. Before she could escape the ea.le's mate appeared, and the mother had auolher encounter, but drove the bird away. Mrs Golding arrived at the stage house late at night, and in a pitiable condition. Tbe mfan!, it is reported escaped injury.
