TIMARU.
January 30. The railway extension to Fairlie Creek * was opened to-day. About 700 excursiouists proceeded by special train to the creek line. When continued it will open up the Mackenzie country, the greatest wool growing district in the colony. The day was ob:erved as a public holiday in town.
