NEWSPAPER PROPRIETOR FINED
(Per Press Association.) CH.RIRTCHURGH, September 7. Matthew F. Barnett, proprietor of the newspaper "Daylight was to-day fined £20 and costs by Mr Haseldcn, 5.M,., for publishing betting news on horse races to be run in New Zealand. The charge was laid under Section 31 of the Gaming Act, and Mr Barnett conducted his own defence.
