INTERNATIONAL TENNIS CONTEST. OPENS TO-MORROW. The Davis (Ai]> contest, for the international lawn tennis) championship, will open to-morrow afternoon at Lancaster Park. The cup, the gift of Mr Dwigiit Davis, a. -well-known enthusiast, was first competed for at Boston in 1900, the Americans, including Davis himself, winning easily. The cup remained in America till 1903, when it was captured by England. Tho year 190.") saw Australasia among the challengers. England retaining the cup, which sho won again in the following year. Brookes and Wilding opened tho third cup era in 1907 by winning tho tronhv for Australasia.
The first match, in the. Singles, will start at 2 p.m. to-morrow, and tho second of tho Sin tries will follow. The draw will be ma do to-night.
