There was -a large attendance a* Mr Charles Clark's auction room this afternoon, when, that historic property, the GrTesford Estate, was put up for auction in 127 lots, varying in area.' from a quarter-acre to two rotfds sixteen perches. The property, which is situated in the south- east end! of St Albans, was recently sub-divided, amd two roads carried throiigh, the aorth o<ne, riin^ ning throughout tiie leogpfc, of lihe estat*, being- named |Bealey Street, after Mr S. Bealey, o^wner of the property, and the one running east and' w««fe, Grresfora Street-, to perpetuate the n^ae of ths estate. The block is bounded on the s6\rch by the North Belt, on the east by the North Avon and Hill's Road, on the north by Edgeware Road, and on the West by Fitzgerald Street, and! contains in all some forty-three acres. Bidding was spirited, and the fir?t sections* along the Belt, containing 33 2>sth perches, each commenced at from £85 to £100, and rapidly ran yip to from- £122 10s to £160.
