rp« R Press AssooiATrnN. I L WELLINGTON, Ap Rll 3o News has been received from London of the death of Captain Levnck, f orinerl commander of the direct liner Mamari, from consumption. Mr J. W. Richmond, assistant engineer of working railways, died last night from peritonitis, after only a week's illness. Deceased was a son of the late Hon J. c. Richmond, and was well known in the P ubliCo6rViCe - WELLINGTON, Matl . Mr W. M. Maskell, registrar of University Senate, who has bee^ ailing some time, died to-night, aged titty-eight. jMr Maskell was a resident in Canterbury for many years, and occupied a seat in the Provincial Council. He was Provincial Secretary and Treasurer immediately before the abolition of the provinces, and subsequently contested the Ashley seat in the House of Representatives, but was defeated by Mr J. E. Brown.' He afterwards took no active part in "political affairs, but devoted himself to literary and scientific pursuits.]
