"J l 2 nd , C - Cotton - It was decided that the date of the next general meeting, fixed for Sept. 22, should be altered to Sept. la, m order to agree with the arrangements made regarding the scheme of amalgamation Mr Pannell moved that the Secretary should be instructed to write to the parents of the late Mr Walter Freeman, a member of the Manawatu Cycling Club, who was recently killed in a road race, expressing the League's condolence with them in their bereavement. The Chairman said that all cyclists would join with him in regretting the accident, which constituted the first tatality in cycle racing i v New Zealand, more especially as the deceased was one of the most, promising riders in his district. The motion was carried unanimously. The Secretary read a letter from Mr John Hope, of Auckland, stating that it was intended to form a club there, and asking for particulars regarding affiliation. The Secretary was instructed to supply the information. The Auckland Cycling Club asked for permission to hold a race meeting on Oct. 30, and forwarded a programme with prize money amounting to £180. The Chairman referred to the exceedingly liberal nature of the programme, and the required permit was granted. Discussion on routine matters then took place, and the proceed-, ings terminated.
