NATIVE SCHOLARSHIPS.
The examination of the papers of candidates for the three scholarships offered this year by Mr Douglas M'Lean, M.H.R., to the Native lads of the colony, in accordance with tho wish of his late father (Sir Donald M'Lean), haß been concluded by Mr J. H. Pope, Inspector of Native Schools. , The successful candidates are : — John Denny, of Raupaki, near Lyttelton 5 H. S. Park, of Motiuelra; and Samuel Martin, of Kaiapoi. The scholarships are each worth '.£35 per annum, and are tenable for .two years. The holders are to be educated at the Te Auto School. The scholarships were founded by Mr Douglas M'Lean many years ago.
