XJ> Obituary. — Mr George Williamson Hall, eldest brother of the Hon Sir John Hall, died at his residence, Park Terrace, yesterday, in his seventy-eighth year. Mr Hall 1 was a native of Scarborough, and in early life went to sea. He became a captain in the merchant service, but left the sea and 1 came to Canterbury in the fifties. For many years he followed pastoral pursuits in various parts of the province. He took no part in public affairs, but was a man of cultured tastes and wide reading, • and of a disposition which caused him to be liked and respected by those who knew 1 Mm. The cause of death was paralysis. : Mr Hall leaves a widow and one daughter. 1 His funeral will take place at Hororata to- ■ morrow. A special train will leave Christ- ' cfyurch for Coalgate at 9.5 a.m., and conveyances will be provided at Coalgate.
