Professor Richard.

The Oddfellows' hall was fairly filled laet night when Professor Richard gave another exhibition of healing by electricity. In his introductory remarks he again referred to Mb challenge to an evening pAper. He said that his challenge had not been accepted, and that he was still willing to deposit JEIOOO to .£IOO on the terms already stated. His was simply an entertainment in which he showed a new system of medical electricity. Electricity had been used by medical men for years, and if to uae electricity was to be a quack, the medical men to whom he referred must be quacks. He fuither stated that Mrs Abrahams had astonished him yesterday by Walking into hia consulting-room, and, moreover, she had been walking about the town. He had treated Mrs Abrahams only on Tuesday evening, when she bad been helpless for three yearß. The first case treated last night was that of Miss Thompson, of Lyttelton, recommended by Mr G. Lanrensen. She had been deaf since she was fourteen years of age. After treatment Bhe could evidently hear considerably better. The next caee was that of Mr West, recommended by Mr E. G. Wright, and who bad been stone deaf in one ear for fifteen years, and very deaf in the other. Mr West, after treatment, could hear much better. Mr Dombrain, who was in the audience, expressed doubts as to any benefit received, and asked to be allowed to teat. On receiving permission he stepped on to the stage, and turning hia back to Mr West, put a fe<v questions which were immediately replied to correctly, and Mr Dombrain acknowledged that the test had proved satisfactory. The third case waß that of James Broad, recommended by the Eev J. Orchard, who had been afflicted with acute rheumatism for seven years. After the Professor bad treated Mm he walked quickly up and down the hall. Mr FredJManhire, of Addinejton, recommended by the Eev P. J. Read, Bible Christian minister of Addington, was carried on to the stage in a perfectly helpless condition. His son, who accompanied him, said that he had not stood for nine years and was unable to feed himself. After treatment, the man with slight assistance from the Profeesor, stood up and slowly walked, and with assistance he was able to walk down the hall, the last few stepß alone. The Professor g?rve a most comical electrical Wtertainment to conclude the evening. The programme will be changed for to-night and a number of freßh cases will be treated.
