Hospital and Charitable Aid Elections.
'» CITY COUNCIL, A special meeting of the Christchurch City Council was held at noon to-day to elect representatives of the Council on the North Canterbury Charitable Aid Board and the Christchurch Hospital Board ; present— His Worship the Mayor, Councillors Bonnington, Wood, E. Smith, Widdowson, Gray, Anderson, Appleby, Calder, Flesher, J. T. Smith, Gapes, and Thomson. Councillor Appleby proposed Councillors Thomson and J. T. Smith as representatives of the Council on the Charitable Aid Board. Councillor Thomson said that he could not find time to attend to the duties. Councillor Widdowson proposed Councillor Gray. Councillor Gray said that he could not afford the time. After some further conversation, Councillor Gray proposed Councillor Cooper. Councillor Wood seconded the motion. Councillors J. T. Smith and Cooper were then elected unanimously. . Councillor Appleby proposed Councillors Wood and Widdowson as representatives of the Council on the Hospital Board. Councillor Bonnington seconded the motion. Councillor E. Smith proposed Councillor Gray. Councillor J. T. Smith seconded the nomination. Councillor Thomson nominated his Worship the Mayor. Councillor Calder seconded the nomination. On the motion. of Councillor Flesher,the Council proceeded to a ballot, which resulted in Councillors Wood and Widdowson being elected. Councillor Wood returned thanks for his re-election, and the Council adjourned.
