Rifle Class. — To-morrow evening the members of the Christchurch Working Men's Club Eifle Class will celebrate the close of their season by holding a supper in the social hall of the institution. East Christchurch School. — A report of the Education Board's Buildins Committee, who have inspected the East Christchurch School, was read at to-day's meeting of the Board. It confirmed the reports of the City Surveyor and Inspector, published in this isaue. The Linwood Loan.— As there seems to be a great diversity of opinion in regard to the proposed Linwood loan, a meeting of Linwood ratepayers not favourable to the loan will be held this evening, at eight o'clock, in the Phillipstown schoolroom. Mr W. Izard, solicitor, will preside, and no doubt there will be a large attendance. Lecture. — The lecture by Mr A, H. Noblo, entitled "Chemistry of Coal," which was unavoidably postponed last week, is to be given in the hall of the Christchurch Working Men's Club, at eight o'clock, this evening. The synopsis to bo submitted is of a most interesting character, being made most attractive by the introduction of several brilliant chemical experiments. Tickets of admission will be obtainable at the door for ladies and visitors. '
