On Saturday afternoon the members of the Board of Health visited the Quarantine station at Ripa Island, and inspected the arrangements made for the immigrants per ship Punjaub, and they expressed themselves much pleased therewith. At 3 p.m., the disembarkation of fche immigrants was commenced in the ship's boats, the s.s. Mullough towing them to the lauding plaoe. All the immigrants were landed during the afternoon, and appeared pleased and grateful wifch the arrangements made for them. Yesterday morning the Immigration Oflicer visited the laland, and landed the provisions and medical comforts for fche use of the immigrants. Ho reports thafc the health of the immigrants was improving, and that no freah cases of sickness had occurred. We have been requested to state that Mr March will gladly tako charge of any letters or parcels for the immigrants. On Saturday night a heavy sea from the N.E. came tumbling into harbour, and it blew very strong ; all vessels lying afc the wharves had to haul off to the buoys, and the vessels in the stream drifted considerably up the harbour. The barque Schiehallion, now ready for sea, drifted towards the reef, and by noon, although a second anchor had been dropped, she looked from shore to be in a very dangerous position. At 2 o'clock it was deemed advisable to send off a steamer to tow her into a placo of greater safety. Captain Gibson (harbour master), Mr Norris (chief pilot), and the crew proceeded fco fche barque in the s.s. Maori and dropped anchor ; a warp was then run out to the vessel, but unfortunately on the steamer going ahead the tow-rope became entangled in her fan, and although efforts wero made to release ifc, owing to the heavy sea coming in they were unavailing for a time, and a flag was run up for assistance. Captain M'Clatchie got up steam in the Gazelle and proceeded to the ship, but her services were not required ; as the Maori, having got free from the rope, succeeded in bringing fche barque up to th» buoy opposite the middle wharf.
