PROPOSED CHEESE FACTORY,

JjA well-attended meeting of settlers was held at Moffats Hotel, Wail.oa, on Saturday last, to take measures for the establishment of a cheese, factory. Mr J. B. Smith was in the chair. It was resolved that it was to') late to commence proceedings this weason, b-it that a comiuitte be formed, consisting of Messrs Parr, Sedaon, and others to canvass the district, arid have a fair start with buildings and machinery by next season. yA letter was read from Messrs Ingram and Co., the well-known cheese and butter factory plant manufacturers, stating the conditions upon which they would undertake to erect suitable plant. Those present, however, did not altogether approve of said conditions, and thought more advantageous arrangements could be carried out^The site of the proposed factory, it was thought should be on the main road as near the Waihou township as possible, and steps will be taken forthwith to secure as advantageous a site as can be had. The undersigned gentlemen guaranteed to supply milk daily to the said factory as follows : —Messrs J. B. Smith, 40 gallons ; Reuben Parr, 40 do ; John Moffatt, 10 do ; M. O'Donoghuo, 20 do ; J. McNicol, 50 do ; S. Sed^on, 50 do ; F. Strange, 40 do ; Campbell Bios., 40 do ; Charles Thaxter, JO do ; Jas. Parr, 40 do. We may add that the above quantities were guaranteed in the room, but it is believed double tins amount can be easily obtained. y>
