When a start wus effected Sun Rose, Guigne, aiid Hammerkop became entangled in the webbing, Ihe first to show in front being Skyscraper, Quintessence, and Baroness La Fleche, all on the left, with Dazzling, Girlie, and Kittywick in the centre, clear of Star of the Sea and Red Lily, the last trio being Guigne, Hammerkop, and Sun R-oae, to the Bushes, where Quintessence took a slight lead of Skyscraoer, Red Lily, Dazzling, and Baroness La Fleche. The latter lost her place descending the bill, and in the Dip Sun Rose took third place, well in front of Dazzling and Kittywick, but though Prince Soltykoff's filly overhauled Skyscraper clo.se home, she failed to make any impression in Quintessence, who won by a length and a-half; two lengths separated the second and third. Dazzling was fourth, Kittywick fifth, Baroness La Fleche sixth, You Go Off seventh, Hammerkop eighth, Star of tho Sea. ninth, Red Lily next, and Guigne last. After the start had been delayed by the fractiousnesß of Vendale—- who badly kicked Lognos — and Momtress, the lot were despatched, Caro being the quickest to show, in front of Vendale, St. Maclon, Momtress, Sliellmartin, and Liquidator to the stand, where Vendale drew out with a clear lead of Caro, Shellmartin, St. Maclou. Momtress, and Leviathan, with Liquidator, Parody, and Carabine heading the middle division and Preen whipping in. At the railway turn Vendale and Leviathan held a two lei.gths' lead of Caro, who was in turn well e'ear of Shellniartin, Parody, and St. Maclou; another gap separating them from Templemore, Throwaway, Monitress, Carabine, and Venus, Grand Deacon now dropping back last. In the straight the F-econd time there was little alteration, except that Vendale was then four lengths in front of Leviathan and that Shellmartin ceded his position to Parody, with Monitress, St. Maclou, Carabine, Throwaway, and Venus in close pursuit; but at the Grosvenor turn Throwaway took third place clear of Carabine 'and Parody, a long gap separating them from St. Maclou, Liquidator, and Momtress. When fairly m the turn for home Throwaway joined Caro, and the pair reduced Vendale's lead to a length, but they failed to pet on terms with Mr Thursby's colt, who made practically the whole of the running and won by a length . three-parts of a length between second and third. Carabine was fourth. Parody fifth, St. Maclou sixth, Liquidator seventh, Preen eighth, Momlress ninth, Venus tenth, Leviathan eleventh., Shellmartin twelfth, Grand Deacon next, and Lognes last.
