After covering a quarte.. of a mile Frontignan drew away from Martineau, Diamond Jubilee, and Mardi, with Hulcot Aext, in front of Mo&t Excellent, Elopement, and Courlan. Up the hill Martineau h-id headed Froniignan, who dropped into third place, behind Diamond- Jubilee, whilst Mardi headed the others. A mile and a-quarter flora. .home, Diamond Jubilee joined Martineua, whilst Mardi went on third, in advance of Downhain, Most Excellent, ilulcot, and Courlan, Frontignan, now dropping into the rear. As the Red House was reached Diamond Jubilee was out a couple of lengths in front of Mardi, with ,Ccurlan next, in advance of Sailor Lad and Elopement. Rounding the bend Courlan was beaten, and Diamond Jubilee entered the line for home with the race well won, followed by Mardi, Courlan, and Elopement. Sloan was soon riding Courlan, and though Diamond Jubilee appeared tcfonce hang fire, he only required something to lace with him. It was now Elopenicnt's turn to come throt;gh, which he did with a rattle, bvtt all to no purpose, for Diamond Jubilee, with eais pricked, strode home a length and a-half winner ; two lengths between second and third. Sailor Lad was placed fourth, Hulcot was fifth, Msst Excellent sixth, Phalaris seventh, Ma'rdi eighth, and then came Downhani and Martineau, a long way off, whilst Frontignan was tailed off, last.
