At tho commencement of the rails St. Frusquin had not reduced the daylight that divided him from Regret, and was, moreover, being ridden hard. The next hundred yards saw the race, which had for a time seemed in favour of Regret, undergo a complete revolution, and St. Frusquin, answering to every call of his rider, went up step by step until Regret was collarad just below the distance. From this point the efforts of the Kingsclere horse were of no avail, for whereas Troon gradually got nearer and nearer until he only lost second money by a length, St. F/usquin steadily added to his advantage, until he won very cleverly, if not easily, at last by a length and a-half.
