The attempts of Watercress to get much nearer were in vain, and with half a length to the good, Orme was showing superiority of speed until the stand end of the lawn, when he began to sheer away to the left. The situation waa quickly grasped by Moray Cannon, who took a pull which enabled La Fleche to draw level, after which Orme forged ahead again in the last half dozen strides, and won a fine race by a neck ; six lengths between second and third.
