As they made the bottom turn, Marcion pulled out of the heels of Baccaneer and Ragimunde, and when once in the line for home Chandley eeb him going. In another 100 yds the issue was virtually over, as Marcion simply left Buccaneer and Rsgimunde standing still, and when Orvieto took third place a quarter of a mile from home, the three-year-old was alone in his glory. From the distance the pursuit was abandoned, and Marcion passed the judge's box, pulling double, with an eightlengths' verdict from Bucoaneer, while Ragimunde was half as far behind. Orvieto, who had overreached himself badly, walked in fourth, and Buccaneor pulled up sore all round. Time, 4min 35sec. Value of the stakes, £2650. Arouya made play from St. Hilaire and Galloping Dick to the distance, where Arouya was beaten, and no sooner had St. Hilaire got the advantage of Galloping Dick than Wedding Bell joined issue on the stand side, and won an exciting race by a length and a-half ; two lengths ' between second and third.
