More than a quarter of a mile from home | Llanthony struck his flag, and AUoante carried on the running from Gouverneur to below the distance, when Signorina swept up to the pair at the same time that Orme steered round to the left of Martagon. In the next 100 yds Signorina had passed Alicante and Gouverneur, and with Orme at once challenging, the issue momentarily looked like a match between the pair. As they approached the principal stand, however, Martagon also made a bold effort, and after Ormo had onoe to all appearance taken the measure of Signorina by drawing on level terms, she got slightly away again and won a very exciting raoe by half a length, ; Martagon losing second money by a bead.
