So far Rose Window had always been slightly pulling over Jack o' Lantern', and when the three-year-old made a simultaneous effort to reach Ice he got i a shade the best of it, and won by a neck; a head between second and third. C&stagnette was fourth, Prudence fifth, Gervas sixth, Dog Rose seventh, Zoophyte eighth, Dazzle ninth, and Purple Emperor and Isobar the last two. Value of the stakes, £1000. At the commencement of the rails The Rejected, who had never shown particularly bold, was in trouble, and he gave way in company of Hylton, the pair dropping back to Oberon. The next to compound was Spearmint, and ceasing to persevere he ,left Lisbon in command from Torch; Light, Veracity, Tommy, Tittlemouse, and Tib. The race admits of no further description, as the efforts of Woodburn on the favourite failed in the least degree to trouble Lisbon, who sailed past the post the easiest of winners by a length and a-half, two lengths dividing second and third. Johnny Morgan was first away, closely attended by Ossory on the left, and Ayrshire on the right, next coming Orbit on the stand side, with Friar's Balsam in the centre, and Crowberry, wide on the right, last. At a good pace Johnny Morgan piloted his field for a couple of furlongs, when Ossory and Ayrshire were his attendants, while Friar's Balsam
