Greenwich was first away, and made the running from Luminary and Sheraton, then following St. Honorat, with Ducat in the rear. They ran thus for about a quarter of a mile, when Luminary drew to the front, Greenwich, St. Honorat, and Sheraton following in the order named until two distances from home. Here the favourite, Luminary, and, Greenwich were beaten, and Sheraton, taking up the running shortly after passing the Spagnolette board, won in a canter by three lengths ; a bad third. At a slow pace The Dutchman made the running from St. Gatien and Bole,' with Scot Free last, and so. they ran to the Stand, on passing which Bole closed with The Dutchman, and they went on dear of the other pair, who were running side by side, until reaching the Swinley starting past, where Scot Free dropped into the rear again. Eole and The Dutchman kept close company, with St. Gatien treading their heels off, until half-way through the Swinley Bottom, where Eole took a clear lead of The Dutchman and St. Gatien, while Scot Free, who had all along been running anything but generously, now dropped away several lengths in the rear. Eole came on in front of The Dutchman and the favourite until half-way up the straight,
