The first to show in advance were Reveuse and Safcory, clear of Attendez-moi-sous-l'Orme, to whom succeeded Farfadet, with Frontin and St. Blaise next, and Derviche, who got away badly, bringing up the rear. When about half a mile had been covered, Derviche came through his horses and assumed tho command, and soon making the pace a good one, he held a four lengths' lead of Regain and Reveuse, whilst Frontin at the same time began to improve his position, and shortly afterwards took third place, Farfadet being next, with Satory and St. Blaise the most prominent of the others. Thus they ran until a quarter of % mile from home, when Reveuse and Derviche began to hold out signals of distress, and quickly dropped away beaten, and at the same time Frontin took up the running, olosely attended on the outside by St. Blaise, with Regain and Satory lying between Farfadet and Frontin. At the distance Regain, Satory, and Farfadet were done with, when St. Blaise joined Frontin, and a splendid race home ensued ; St. Blaise, however, could never quite get up, and was defeated by a head ; three lengths divided second and third. Satory was fourth, Regain fifth, and the others pulled up. Time, 3 mm. 20 sec. Value of the stakes, £5996.
