A capital start was made, and the horses ran in line for some time, the first to ' show in advance being Thunderstruck, followed by Brown Bess and Fiddler, with Ambassa* dress, Falkirk, and Ollerton next,- while oloße ' up to these came Retreat, Mistake, and Tagus, with Reveller and The Star lying last. They ran thus for about a mile, when Sirdar and Brown Bess took a slight lead of Thunderstruck, and Fiddler, Ambassadress, Ollerton, Americanus, Retreat, and Mistake lying next, while The star was beaten off. Passing the T. Y. ,C. finishing post Americanus, Brown Bess, and Sirdar were in trouble, and Fiddler resumed the command, being followed by Thunderstruck, Ambassadress, and Setreat, with Foxhall and Mistake next, and Chippendale, who was improving his position, close up. At the bushes Fiddler was still in front, having for immediate attendants Retreat, Foxhall, and Chippendale, the remainder being beaten off. As they commenced the descent of the hill Foxhall rushed to the front, followed by Retreat, but the latter was eased in the dip when it was found that a pursuit of the American > representative was hopeleo3, and though Chippendale and Fiddler strove hard to pass Foxhall they could never get near him, and breasting the hill in a resolute manner, he won in a common canter from 10 to 12 lengths. A length separated second and third. Retreat was fourth, followed by Fortissimo, Ambassadress, Falkirk, Brown Bess, Ollerton, and Mistake, the. last , lot comprising Americanus, Petronel, and Tho Star. 1 Time, 4 mm. 1 sec.
