When they had settled down Bourn held a v slight lead of Arbitre, Versigny, Robert the i Devil, and Le Destrier, with Beauminet next, and this order was maintained until a mile from home, when Le Destrier and Robert the Devil, who kept olose to the cords, improved their positions, and Beauminet drew into fourth plaoe, attended by Poulet Half a mile from home Bourn was beaten, and Count Lagrange's pair took up the running, closely followed by Beauminet, Le Destrier, and Robert the Devil, all the others being beaten. Coming round into the straight Poulet made a determined effort, but Robert the Devil, without moving out of his stride, was gradually drawing up, and passing Beauminet, Milan, Le Destrier, and Poulet, went on and won in a common oanter by a length; three-quarters of a length separated the second and third, and a length tbe third and fourth, Beauminet being in the latter position, Poulet was fifth, Pacific sixth, Arbitre seventh, Yereigny eighth, Milan II ninth, and Bourn tenth.
