Bothcandidates recei\ ed a fair hearing. The show of hands resulted as follows : — Steward, 2s ; Macassey, 20. A poll' was' demanded by Mr Mtcassey, and will take place on Friday. The contest r will be a close one. , -
Featherston, January, 3oth. , The Wairarapa elec'ion took place today, and resulted as follows :— Mr H. Bunny, 203 ; Rev. J. C. Andrew, 200 ; Mr C. Pharazyn, 102. The two- former were declared duly elected.
