NEW ZEALAND SUCCESSES,

LONDON, November 10. < New Zealand exhibitors at the Festival of Empire, which 'recently closed its doors, cannot complain that they have come empty away. The judges have simply showered grand prizes, diplomas of honor, and gold, silver, and bronze medals on them. The New Zealand Government have had no fewer than 28 grand prizes' awarded for exhibits staged by the Departments of Agriculture. Labor, Public Works, Minos, and Tourists, whilst four grand prizes, a diploma of honor, and 28 gold medals have fallen to private exhibitors. The Government, received a grand prize for the collective exhibit, and the Agricultural Department 17 grand prizes, for individual exhibits of fruit, jams, honey, wine, hops, cereals, hemp and tow, frozen poultry, dairy produce, frozen meats, hams and bacon, wool and skins, 'preserved milk, frozen rabbits and hares, leatherware, and soap and candles. To the Department of Labor's exhibit of photographs, statistical charts, etc., a grand prize was awarded ; three more fell to the lot of the Public Works Department, for displays of timber, building stone, five- j day, blacks, .and tiles ; and the Department of Mines scored with its fine collection, of minerals. Five grand prizes were secured by the Tourist Department for the exhibits of natural mineral wafers, trophies of the chase, paintings of New Zealand scenery, photographic views, and hand books and literature. N

Among the private exhibits which- received grand prizes were- the Mosgiel Woollen. Company's display of rugs, the New Zealand Shipping Company's models of steamships, the dresscutting charts of Miss L. Roberts (of Christchurch), and the coal exhibit of the Westpbrt Coal Company.

• Air J. H. Beamish, of Auckland, received a diploma of honor for his show of patent prismatic roofing, and gold medals fell to the following firms: —

Silver medals were: awarded to Mr T. E. Donne for a collection of Maori carvings: to "the "Glaxo " Company, of Wellington v for their specialty ; to the Wellington 'Woollen '•■ Company, for their exhibit of woollen goods; to !Mr James Whinray, of Gisborne, for a sideboard made of New Zealand woeds; and to Mr James Williamson, of Feilding, for a violin and case. J Bronze medals fell to Mr W. G. Foster, of Wellington, for his exhibit ; of frozen rainbow trout; and to Mr H. W. Kirkwood, of Waiiiganui, for oil paintings of New Zealand scenery. Finally, '" Mr "F. R. Brown, of the Otago Art Society, received honorable mention for an oil painting.
