JKathießon, vice-presidents; Mr A. M'Kay, secretary; Meßsrs R. Raynbird, J. Macandrew, jun,, R. Irring, J. Beattie, W. Stewart, A. Blatch, W. Scott, D. Telfer, and J. Q. Lewis—com mittee. i

The linnet and sparrow nuisance was the main business of the meeting ; and the follow ing recipes for poisoning wera read, and the merits of each freely discussed : — Recipe by Mr Jaffray, Saddle Hill—" Ten pounds wheat soaked in boiling water, lady'B thimbleful of strychnine, two or three drops of spirits of salts; whole to be soakei for 24 hours, stirred at intervals until the poison is absorbed —or three pounds of turnip seed instead of the wheat-" Eecipe by Mr A. M'Kay.—" Three pounds of turnip seed and two or three pounds broken, wheat to half-drachm of strychnine dissolved with one teaspoonful of spirits of salts; one pint of water along with the poison. Bill it and pour it on the seed. Let it stand until it is wholly absorbed, stirring it at intervals." The pasting process, clipped from the Daily Times, was also read, but was not approved of. It was resolved to adopt Mr M'Kay's recipe with the exception of the turnip seed, for which should be substituted broken wheat, many of the members believing that the turnip Might grow and pollute the ground. On the motion of Mr A. Mathieson, seconded by Mr D, Telveb, it waa unanimously resolved that the Society provide the poisoned grain, and distribute it to tbe settlers in the Peninsula gratis, and that a committee be appointed to carry out the same, consisting of the following: —J, G.
