CAPTAIN CUTTLE.
And the Cocaine Story.
It was cabled all over the world that cocaine had been injected into one of Captain Cuttle's coronets immediately before the start of the ' English Derby, m order to allay the effects' of lameness caused by faulty shoeing. It may not be generally known that the use Of the syringe for any purpose whatever would bring about the disqualification of a Derby winner, and the statement which was made by the London "Daily Express," has' caused Lord Woolavington; owner of the colt, to institute proceedings against the offending journal for libel. He states that there is, no foundation whatever for the allegation.
