COUNTIES ASSOCIATION.
A MEW ORGANISATION.
COMMUNITY OF INTERESTS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, Thursday. The desirability of forming a counties' association, representing the county councils of the Auckland, Taranaki and Wellington rural local bodies was affirmed at tho South Auckland conference to-day. One speaker said the Dominion Counties' Conference was a dead letter on account of the multiplicity of remits to be considered, the diversity of interests and the difficulties experienced of properly ventilating tho needs of the various counties concerned.
It was suggested that the name be the Rural Counties' Association. The meeting unanimously affirmed the principle of forming tho association, and it was decided to refer the matter to tho respective counties for approval. Mr. S. If. Andrew, of Taumarunui, was appointed secretary pro tem, and Messrs. G. A. Stanton (Taumarunui), Stewart Reid (Waipa), T. Potts (Otorohanga), W. Newell (Waikato) and It. Buddy (Waitomo) were appointed the provisional executive.
