OBITUARY.

CAPTAIN A. D. ,D. McLEAN.

Captain Algernon Donald Douglas McLean, late of the Queen's Own Cameron; Highlanders, died in a private hospital at Napier on Monday. He was', the only son of Mr. R. D. D. McLean, and grandson of the late Sir Donald McLean. Captain McLean -was severely wounded at Ypres in October, 1914, and had to be invalided home. By, 1916 he had so far recovered from the effects of his injuries that he was able to proceed to India, where he served with the forces for some time. After his return to New .Zealand his ! health became unsatisfactory .again, ard in spite .of unremitting care and attention he gradually grew worse..;

- CAPTAIN J. B. KENNEDY. A well-known former resident of Waiheke Island, Captain J. B. Kennedy, died on Tuesday at Lis residence, Burwcod Orescent, Remuera, at the ago of 78 years. Born at Dumfriesshire,. Scotland, Captain Kennedy was educated at the parish school, and the Hisrlj* School, F-dinhnfHh. As a young man he went to Patagonia* On his return to Scotland, he engaged in farming on his father's property. He obtained a captain's commission in a militia battalion of the Scottish Borderers, later renamed the Royal Scottish Fusilier*. In September, 1885, he arrived in New Zealand and took. up land at Vvaiheke, ■ where he remained until a year ago, when health, reasons caused ? him ,to ' retire; to Auckland. He was married in 1871 in Dublin. ,'" He leaves a widow and one eon, Mr. ; J. Kennedy, of Waiheke. The funeral took place yesterday at the Crematorium.
