The Te Aroha < War Memorial was "Ha? veiled this •" afternoon, Major-Genera] 'Sir;|r,*| Edward Chaytor the ceremony in the presence of over 1000 people. All flags were flown half-mast during tie day. ■ r /v A ceremonial service*, in which the ■ clergy of the Anglican, Methodist land r Presbyterian i Churches, and the' Salvation Army took part, was held. Major-General ' , Chaytor then spoke briefly and released the flags covering the bronze figure of a ' New Zealand soldier. Many floral wreaths' > were placed on the base of the .monwaett ' by representatives, of local bodies in th« '. district, and by relatives and friends ol ; the fallen. ,'• ' \ '.|| The memorial is of granite* standing on ||1 ft base of four flights of . steps, and stir- & mounted by the bronze figure of a Ne\7 si' Zealand soldier with rifle and bayonet ai l the' "ready:.'*; The height of the monu- >' ment is 36ft., -and the two tablets bear " the names .of 100 district soldiers who;, ■,' made the supreme sacrifice. ~ <-
