A largo deputation waited on Mr. Allen Pell yesterday urging him to contest the Bay of Islands seat at the general election. Mr. Bell agreed to contest the seat if allowed to run as an Independent. His policy would be to support the producer and the working man. and development of the great Northland. It was unanimously agreed to give the candidate a free hand. WESTLAND CONSTITUENCY. THE REFORM NOMINEE. IBX TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] GREYMOUTH. Saturday. Mr. Jesse Steer, chairman of the Greymoutb Harbour Board, will be the official Reform candidate for Westland at the general elections. WELLINGTON EAST SEAT. LADY CANDIDATE POSSIBLE. A petition is in course of circulation in the Wellington East electorate asking that Mrs. Annie McVicar should allow herself to be nominated as an independent candidate for Wellington East. Mrs. McVicar has for some years been a member of the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. She was a member of the late Miramar Borough Council, and when tho amalgamation was brought about she became one of the district's representatives on the City Council. At the last election Mrs. McVicar was returned as a member of the council, and, on the same day, was re-elected to the Hospital Board.
