OTvOUghlin, in opening the annual congress of the Agricultural Bureau in Adelaide the other day, " I drove for my father six bullocks attached to a single-furrow plough, which was capable of cultivating an acre a day. Wheat, in those days, was sewn out of a sheet by hand, the sower walking over the clods. * Reaping was done with a sickle, and the grain threshed out with a flail, To-day a youth can ride at ease on a four or six-furrowed plough, and turn over six acres a day. The seed' is drilled in, manure being applied at the same operation, and the complete harvester has greatly simplified the work of reaping, cleaning, and bagging the wheat.
