NEWS FROM WAINGARO.

[from our own CORRESPONDENT.] ; The'annual meeting of the Waingaro Polo Club was held at the Public Hall on Saturday, 3rd inst. Mr. Hewett (the president) occupied the chair. The matter discussed was a letter from the New Zealand Eclo Association re polo sports programmes being submitted to the New Zealand Racing Conference. The matter was thoroughly gone into, and it was unanimously decided that the secretary write to the secretary, of the New Zealand Polo Association asking that instead of submitting polo sports programmes to the Racing Conference they be passed by the metropolitan racing clubs. The balance-sheet for the past season was read and passed, there being a credit account of £8 7.1, including polo stioka on hand. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the retiring president and secretary, the following being elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr. 8. Picfcen; captain, Mr. C. Dawson (re-elected); vicecaptain, Mr. T. C. Wilson (re-elected) hon. secretary, Mr. H. C. Wheeler; Measuring and General Committee, the above officers and Mr. F. C. Bull. A meeting on August 2/ discussed the (steamship service between Raglan and Waingaro, Captain Cogee, of the s.s. Maori, having notified the settlers of his intended departure and the suspension of this service. The meeting discussed the advisability of the settlers buying a launch and punt for the service. One party promised £25 toward the fund, others following with. £10 and £5.
