The train which left Methven for Rakaio, on Thursday morning at seven o'clock stuck in a snow-drift in the Cuirnbrae cutting, where the snow was sft deep. A gang of men was put on, but the train did not reach Rakaia till twenty minutes to three yesterday morning. Traffic has now been resumed on this branch of the line. GisnoitNE, Saturday. The Wairoa coach had great difficulty in getting through Gisbome yesterday, having to be dug out of the snow-drifts. Snow has never been seen lower on the hills around Gisborne than at present. Nelson, Saturday. No snow has fallen in the city, but there was plenty on the adjacent hills yesterday morning. The thermometer registered 24 degrees, and the water was frozen in the taps. [BY TELEQBAFH.— OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Whangarki, Saturday. The Tangihua Ranges, situated to the south-west of Whangarei, are topped with snow. This has never been seen before, even by the oldest residents. They presented a very pretty sight. Last night was not as cold as on Thursday night.
