MINISTERIAL MATTERS.
MR. REEVES'S APPOINTMENT AS AGENT-GENERAL CONFIRMED, - EARLY DEPARTURE FOR LONDON. REDISTRIBUTION OF PORTFOLIOS. THE CHRISTCHURCH SEAT, [by TELEGRAPII.— CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Sunday. Ministers are returning to Wellington. Mr. Seddon arrived yesterday and Mr. Ward this afternoon. Mr. McKenzie is on hiii way, and will arrive on Wednesday ; while the Minister of Railways is expected on Friday. The appointment of successors to Sir Patrick Buckley and Mr. Reeves, and the redistribution of portfolios will be dismissed at a full Cabinet about Friday next, The appointment of the Hon, W, P. Reeves as Agent-General has been confirmed, and he leaves Wellington for London on the 10th instant. The Governor expects to reach Lyttelton on the 13th, when he will receive Mr. Reeves's resignation of the Chi'lutchurch city seat. A new writ will follow immediately, and the election is expected to take place early in February. [BV TELEGRAPH,—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christohuroh, Sunday. The Timos announces definitely that Mr. Reeves has accepted office as AgentGeneral, and will loave for London in the course of a few days.
