REMOVAL OF THE LIBRARY OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY.

A notice has recently appeared in our columns from Mr. Campbell, stating that orders had been issued for the removal of the General Assembly library to Wellington. The removal of the books is now being rapidly proceeded with, and in other circumstances might, perhaps, be somewhat annoying to our Auckland people. But the people of Auckland can afford to look quietly on, for it is not at ail unlikely that the orders, “ as you were; right about face ; march,” will very soon return the hooks and the officials to this Province. We do protest, however, on behalf of the people of this Colony, against the reckless expense that is being incurred to gratify the loolish vanity oi a small clique. In numbers alone we have twenty-seven resident members, who could avail themselves of the use of the library, while the empire city musters only twelve! As to the convenience of the members in the other provinces, the library is as near to them at Auckland as at Wellington.
